Samsung’s new robots take the sting out of staying at home

It looks like Samsung has taken a page from The Jetsons and created its own lineup of robot housekeepers

During its CES 2021 keynote, the company unveiled two new robots — Bot Care and Bot Handy — which can help around the house by keeping up with your daily schedule and chores.

Let’s just say Bot Care is certainly the one that’s more appropriate for these trying times as it can act as your own personal assistant. Using artificial intelligence, the Bot grows accustomed to your behavior over time and responds accordingly. Samsung didn’t go in-depth on exactly how Bot Care works to get to know you better, but it did demo some of the robot’s actions during the keynote.

In the video below, you can see Bot Care roll into the room and say, “You’ve been on your computer too long. How about stretching and taking a short break?” It can also remind you of upcoming meetings you have and other appointments on your schedule. With a flip-up display attached to its head, the bot can stream video calls for you as well.

Then there’s Bot Handy, which is designed to help you with chores around the house. Using its robot arm, it can recognize and grab objects like cups, dishes, and clothing. That way, you can ask it to complete tasks like setting the table, putting away groceries, and loading the dishwasher. Oh, and it can even pour a glass of wine for you.

Samsung was fairly light on details regarding price and availability since both of these Bots are currently in development. But with the pandemic still raging on, and most of us stuck at home, these creepy robots actually don’t sound like a bad idea. Here’s hoping Bot Care and Bot Handy are not only available soon but also fairly affordable.
