Boeing won a $28.3 million modification by the US Air Force for an engineering change proposal modification for the F-15 Passive/Active Warning and Survivability System (EPAWSS). Work will be performed in St. Louis, Missouri, and is expected to be completed by December 31, 2023.

DARPA has completed the first phase of its Robotic Autonomy in Complex Environments with Resiliency (RACER) unmanned combat vehicle program in the Mojave Desert, California. The phase concluded with a third assessment of the RACER fleet, in which they were deployed without human intervention from the US Army’s National Training Center in Fort Irwin. The vehicles were chased by a separate system driven by a safety operator to demonstrate their autonomous combat movement throughout mission-specific scenarios.

Middle East & Africa

Iran will mark its National Army Day on April 18, an annual event that showcases the country’s military progress and capabilities. This year’s parade was marked by the presence of over 40 locally produced and non-locally manufactured fighter jets, including the Saeqeh, Kowsar, F-7, F-14, F-4, MiG-29, and Su-24s, which will perform aerial maneuvers over the capital and other parts of the country. The parade involved units from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Air Defense Force, displaying advanced equipment such as missiles, tanks, armored vehicles, rifles, UAVs, fighter jets, radar systems, and air defense missile systems. The event is seen as an opportunity for the Iranian Army to showcase its latest weaponry and military progress.

Europe

Eight Leopard 2 tanks that Canada promised to Ukraine to help the war-torn country fend off Russia’s invasion have arrived in neighboring Poland, Defense Minister Anita Anand said Friday. Ottawa had announced in February it would double the number of tanks pledged to Kyiv the month before. The German-made 55,000-kilogram beasts are the backbone of and among the most advanced in the Canadian military’s arsenal.

Asia-Pacific

Boeing and South Korea’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) have inked a memorandum of understanding to pursue joint research, development, and marketing for advanced weapons systems. The agreement is expected to broaden Boeing’s presence across South Korea, as it will provide the company an opportunity to directly support the government’s national defense strategy in producing and maintaining advanced military assets.

The Philippine Navy (PN) confirmed that two more brand-new fast attack interdiction-missile Shaldag Mark 5 ships – designated FAIC-M in the Philippine Navy – were delivered to the Philippine. Set for christening in May, these Shaldag Mark 5 ships will soon join the Acero-class patrol gunboats along with frontrunners BRP Nestor Acero (PG-901) and BRP Lolinato To-ong (PG-902) which were commissioned late last year.
